From a young age, I grew up listening to my grandparents share their life stories from the Vietnam War era. While some of these memories were painful, they shaped my deep respect for history, culture, and human connection. These early experiences inspired me to become a tour guide—not just to show places, but to share authentic stories that help guests truly understand the past and connect emotionally with the destinations they visit.
I have over two and a half months of guiding experience, during which I have handled half-day food tours and city tours, mainly around Luang Prabang. Despite being early in my professional journey, I have already learned how to manage real on-ground challenges. The most difficult issues I faced included time management, guest expectations, and communication clarity. I solved these by planning routes carefully, staying calm under pressure, listening actively to guests, and clearly explaining the itinerary and local context at every stage of the tour.
My core knowledge covers Lao history, culture, traditions, and local lifestyles, with a strong focus on the Mekong River, waterfalls, nature, local food, and traditional crafts. I am confident in explaining cultural meaning simply and engagingly. With my ability to communicate in Lao and Khmu (native), Thai (advanced), and English (intermediate), I create a welcoming environment where guests feel comfortable asking questions and interacting freely.
What sets me apart as a guide is my genuine care for people. I treat every guest equally and make sure no one feels left out. I pay attention to small details—helping with photos, offering local recommendations beyond the itinerary, teaching basic Lao words, and adjusting my pace to suit the group. My tours follow a clear structure: a warm welcome, organized storytelling at each stop, time for questions, and a heartfelt farewell.
I became a tour guide not only because I love serving people, but also because I want to inspire more women to work in tourism. As a guide, I see myself as a representative of my country—how I speak, explain, and behave shapes how guests understand Laos and its people.
Outside of guiding, I enjoy learning more about Lao history, trekking, cycling, and exploring new places. I believe that guests complain when guides lack knowledge or clarity, which is why I strongly focus on preparation, safety, time management, and clear communication in every tour I lead.
