Ken FJ Her

Sabaidee! Hello, I'm Ken FJ Her, a Lao National Tourist Guide and Co-founder of Brother Tours. My journey in Lao tourism began in 2008 as a hiking tour guide, and I officially became a Lao national tourist guide in 2010. Initially, I thought I would pursue this career for only five years, but after 11 years, I still find immense joy in guiding travelers through my homeland.

My upbringing in the mountainous regions and six years spent in a temple as a Mini Monk have shaped my perspective on life and travel. I have a deep love for meeting new people and engaging in meaningful conversations. Every day, I eagerly anticipate three new challenging questions, as I believe learning thrives through curiosity and inquiry.

Language learning is another passion of mine, and I am proficient in five languages, with English and Chinese being my fourth and fifth languages, respectively. Through my experiences in travel, I've discovered that it's not just about reaching destinations; it's about embracing challenges, seizing opportunities, and personal growth.

I extend a heartfelt invitation to you, your friends, and your family to explore Laos and Southeast Asia with us. These destinations are characterized by warmth, smiles, and friendliness. Feel free to reach out to us for travel advice and assistance—we're here to make your journey unforgettable.

Neng Thao

Hi everyone, you can call me Neng!

I come from a small Hmong village nestled high in the mountains, about 85km from Luang Prabang. Being a tour guide wasn't exactly my childhood dream, but when I heard my cousin talk about his job – especially the part about "talking" – I was instantly intrigued!

English wasn't my first language, but I started learning at 17 and by the time I was 20, I felt comfortable enough to embark on my adventure as a tour guide.  In 2014, I officially became a Laos national tour guide, and I haven't looked back since.

Here's what makes me unique:

Hmong Heritage: Let me share stories of my Hmong background and offer a glimpse into their fascinating culture.

Off the Beaten Path: Forget crowded tourist spots; I'll show you hidden gems and authentic experiences Laos has to offer.

Open Book: I love to talk about anything and everything, so feel free to ask me any questions you have about Laos.

I'm more than just a guide; I want to be your friend in Laos. I can't wait to share my home with you and create unforgettable memories together!

Looking forward to seeing you soon!

Lao Thao, Call me Lao

My name is Mr. Lao Thao, and I proudly belong to the Hmong ethnic minority. As one of the earliest Hmong children to benefit from government-initiated education programs in rural areas, I embarked on a journey that defied the odds. Enduring a challenging 13-hour walk from the mountains to a small town for high school, I persisted against the odds, emerging as the sole high school and college graduate among my peers.

While my initial dream was to become a doctor, life had other plans for me. Upon graduation, I discovered that the role of a tour guide not only offered financial stability but also resonated deeply with my passion for exploration and connection. Embracing this opportunity, I have dedicated the past 12 years of my life to guiding travelers through the rich tapestry of Laos' landscapes, cultures, and histories.

Through my experiences, I have learned the true value of resilience, adaptability, and the power of education to shape one's destiny. As I continue to navigate the vibrant world of tourism, I am committed to sharing the beauty and diversity of Laos with visitors from around the globe.. I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to guide and enlighten my next guests.
