2 Days Trekking and tribal village homestay
The 2-day trekking experience at Phou Khao Khuey, the national biodiversity area, offers a wonderful opportunity to explore the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the region. The trek takes you through Hmong and tribal villages, allowing you to interact with the local communities and learn about their traditions and way of life.
Itinerary
Day 1: Vientiane to Ban Hatkhai
We will be transferred from Vientiane to Ban Hatkhai, where a long-tail boat will take us upstream on the Nam Mang. We will then continue along one of its tributaries, Houay Xai. During a two-hour trek, we will pass through an evergreen canopy as we gain elevation. A picnic lunch will be served along the way.
In the afternoon, we will reach the magnificent pair of waterfalls, Tad Xay and Pha Xay. These waterfalls are particularly beautiful during and after the rainy season. At Tad Xay, you will have some free time to enjoy its pool, which is highly recommended for bathing.
Afterward, a truck will transport the group to Ban Hatkhai, where we will spend the night in a home-stay.
Day 2: Ban Hatkhai to Tad Leuk to Vientiane
After enjoying an early breakfast, we will arrange for your transfer to the enchanting Tad Leuk Waterfall. Tad Leuk is a popular local tourist destination nestled within the beautiful mixed deciduous forest. Before exploring the waterfall, be sure to visit the Visitors' Center, where a permanent exhibit provides valuable information about the flora and fauna found in the Phou Khao Khouay National Bio-Diversity park.
As you embark on the Tad Leuk Nature Trail, keep an eye out for interesting botanic details that are highlighted along the way. It's a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the diverse plant life in the area. For lunch, you'll have the chance to dine at Tad Leuk.
In the afternoon, the trek continues along the path that follows the Nam Leuk river. Along this route, you'll venture towards the exotic Tad Sang waterfall, also known as the Elephant Waterfall. This idyllic spot provides an excellent location for bathing and relaxation, and during the wet season, you can look forward to spotting numerous orchids along the way. After enjoying the serene atmosphere of Tad Sang, we'll arrange your return to Vientiane.
