3 Days Tour: Exploring the Enigmatic Plain of Jars




The Plain of Jars is an intriguing and enigmatic archaeological landscape located in Laos. Exploring this region over the course of 3 days would offer you a fascinating journey into the past and a chance to witness the mysteries of ancient civilization.  

Itinerary 

Day 1: Vientiane  - Xiengkhuang, afternoon tour

You will commence your tour by flying from Vientiane to Xiengkhuang. Upon arrival, one of the first places you will visit is the Mines Advisory Group (MAG), an organization that clears unexploded ordnance left over from the Indochina War. This visit will provide you with insights into the efforts made to make the region safe again. From there, you will proceed to Muangkhoun, the former capital of Xiengkhuang province. Exploring the remnants of this ancient city will give you a glimpse into the area's rich history and culture. Overnight at Hotel in Xiengkhuang 

Day 2: Full day discovery Plain of Jars and the province 

On the second day, you will delve into the full history of the Plain of Jars. This enigmatic archaeological site is scattered with thousands of large stone jars, believed to have been used for ancient burial practices. You will have the opportunity to visit three different sites, known as Plain of Jars 1, 2, and 3, and discover their historical significance.

Additionally, you will also get a chance to visit the surrounding victim villages. These villages, which were affected by the conflict in the region, provide insights into the local community and their resilience. Overnight at Hotel in Xiengkhuang 

Day 3: Xiengkhuang - Vientiane 

The final day of the tour begins with a visit to the morning market, where you can explore the bustling local scene and perhaps pick up some unique souvenirs or local produce. Afterwards, you will enjoy a traditional local noodle breakfast, giving you a taste of the authentic cuisine in the area.

Finally, you will fly back to Vientiane, concluding your three-day adventure exploring the enigmatic Plain of Jars in Xiengkhuang province..
