The approach
Most regional itineraries treat Laos as filler between Hanoi and Siem Reap. Ours is built the other way round.
In Laos we are not a booking agent. We know the guides, the roads and the seasons because we live here.
Outside Laos we coordinate with selected partners, and we tell you that rather than implying we run everything.
Borders, transfers and handovers are planned as a single journey. You are not passed between agencies at each frontier.

Planning guide
Two weeks for two countries; three or more for a genuine three-country route. Anything shorter turns into airports.
Laos and Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, Laos and northern Thailand. Which works best depends on your dates and where you fly into.
Overland crossings are possible on several routes and are often the more interesting way to travel. Some are slow. We advise where flying is simply better.
The region does not share one weather pattern. A month that is ideal in Luang Prabang can be wrong in central Vietnam, and the route order is set accordingly.

Two or three nights minimum per stop. The most common planning mistake here is one more country.

Ken's note
People ask us to add a fourth country and we usually talk them out of it. Three weeks across four countries is a travel schedule, not a journey — most of it is spent moving.
The better version is two countries properly, with the Lao section long enough to slow down in. That is the part nobody else does well, and it is the part people remember.
