From a Mekong village
Ken FJ Her was born in a small village on the banks of the Mekong River in Laos. Growing up between the temple bells and the riverboats, he developed a deep love for the land and its people — a love that became his lifeu2019s work.
He began guiding in 2010 while studying English, walking travellers through the streets of Luang Prabang and the trails of northern Laos. What started as a job became a calling.
The founding of Brother Tours
In 2018, after nearly a decade of working for other operators, Ken founded Brother Tours with a simple idea: every traveller deserves to experience Laos as a guest of a friend, not as a customer of a company.
He named it “Brother Tours” because that is how he treats every guest — like a brother or sister visiting from abroad.
Ken today
Ken personally trains every guide on the team, leads a handful of founder-hosted journeys each year, and still answers emails himself — often late at night, from his office in Vientiane, planning the next adventure.
He holds a Lao National Tour Guide licence (No. 2010-LICENSED), speaks English, Lao and Thai fluently, and has travelled every province in Laos multiple times.
Founder-hosted journeys
A few times each year, Ken personally hosts small private journeys — limited to six guests, paced slowly, built around the people and places he has loved his whole life. These are the most intimate way to travel with Brother Tours.
